Coming off the back of their acclaimed self-titled debut album in September 2011, Montreal's alt-electronic duo Flowers and Sea Creatures step up with a new EP on Nov 21. The title track is a cover version of fellow Canadian Rufus Wainwright's 'Going To A Town'. The track was originally sketched out on a live session for XFM's John Kennedy in early 2011. The band loved it so much they added a couple of overdubs and mixed it with Ewan Pearson before using it as a bonus track on their album (iTunes only), but it now gets its own turn in the spotlight. Singer Graham Baxter's idiosyncratic voice soars over acoustic guitar and an undertow of buzzy synth drones from partner, Kosta Megalos, while co-producer Ewan Pearson ramps up the direct emotional focus. In addition, the EP features two mixes of another of the album's popular tracks - 'The Sitting Room' - for clubland. First up, Fred Everything (who co-produced the the original version) drops a burbling, trippy dub with staccato voices and up-stepping arpeggios. Meanwhile, Berlin-based Irishman Mano Le Tough follows up his killer debut EP on Buzzin' Fly recently with a strung-out deep techno masterpiece.
