Stockport, 1977

Computer programmer
Your mother's occupation?
Midwife

Two brothers, one sister
What is your earliest memory?
Probably of this eerie mushroom nightlight that used to sit on my bedside table.
What was the first poster on your wall?
A 'Back To The Future' movie poster
Describe your room as a teenager
I shared with my brother, it was a fairly big room with an ensuite bathroom - I spent a lot of time in there reading, listening to music and playing computer games
What was your first car?
I never learned to drive! My Dad offered me new clothes or driving lessons on my birthday and I foolishly chose the clothes.
Favourite footwear?
Nike Safaris or Sperry Top Siders for lazing round the neighbourhood
Pets?
I have an amazing cat called Bessie
What watch are you wearing?
I used to be a big Casio digital watch fan, but now I just rely on my iPhone to tell the time
What is in your pockets?
Loose change, my elacin custom moulded earplugs, keys (house and bicycle lock), iPhone
What would you wear to a fancy dress party?
A giraffe costume
The last time you cried?
A close family friend's funeral
The Beatles were ...
... never really that big for me. I'm sure I'll have a revelation at some point and dive into it.
Are you a city or countryside person?
I love elements of both
When you look in the mirror what do you not like?
These days I try not to think about what I see in the mirror too much - I think narcissim can for the most part be quite a negative thing
You get three free days of solitude. Where do you go?
Wow, well to be honest I work from home, so I get solitude during the day, apart from the company of my cat, but I'm very much a people person so I like to have a balance of getting out and about. I guess it'd be nice to spend some time on a tropical island, with plenty of food and good books
What's the most expensive thing you've ever bought (apart from a house or flat)?
Probably my sequential circuits synth which I paid about 400 quid for. I guess I'm cheap!

Work That Mutha Fucker EP, 1989

Walls - Hang Four (The Field Remix), 2010
Your house is burning down. What three things do you grab as you run out?
My cat, my desktop computer and my laptop

No, sadly not, I'm pretty useless with wildlife

A passport photo of my wife
Your favourite book?
The Man In The High Castle by Philip K Dick

Once in a while. I feel like it's an acquired taste, and I've not really put the work in yet
What would you most to like to receive in the morning mail?
A royalty cheque for ten grand
Do you like custard?
I love it, particularly home made of course. My brother works at St. John Bread & Wine, and one of the chefs there named Dougie cooked the most trancendentally delicious Jam Rolly Polly and custard - I think it's probably the most incredible dessert I've had.
A perfect breakfast consists of ...
Fresh orange juice, a selection of pastries and good coffee
A world of free downloads means ...
More people finding out about artists that they might love, and then hopefully supporting them. Of course not all music can be free, but I feel it's important to allow people to hear you music on a casual basis rather than completely lock it away in the hope that they'll jump through hoops to come and find it

Football - I'm a long suffering Man City fan, so the past few seasons have been pretty interesting!
Favourite sport to play?
Lacrosse (although that was in my teenage years!)
What colour is your DJ sound?
Purple
Who would play you in the film of your life?
Ron Perlman
What song would you like played at your funeral?
Aphex Twin - Xtal
What will clubland be dancing to in 6 months time?
To be honest, I don't know or really care - I think you need to stick to playing what you think is great music, regardless of when it was released, or how often you've played it in the past
What record are you best known for?
Probably the Walls album I guess!
